ILL-Abilities Documentary (work in progress)

ILL-Abilities is an international breaking crew comprised of eight members from around the world:

These artists share two things in common: they each have superhuman skills as b-boys; and they each demonstrate resilience and ingenuity by finding ways to move with their unique disabilities.

I have followed Lazylegz, Checho, Kujo, Redo, Perninha, Samuka, Krops, Junior, and Hourth across the globe, capturing performances in Montreal, in Washington DC at the Kennedy Centre, at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and at Red Bull BC One’s breaking World Final in Rio in December 2024. These moments, with interviews captured by cinematographer Max Machado, are being shaped into a feature length film with the aid of editor Victor Tamarit.

The documentary is produced by Studio Exact Inc. and has received funding support from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. It will premiere in 2027.
